Later in the text, a character named Jesper asks another member of the group what they did with all the money. The friend replies that they used it to buy guns and bombs. The second character goes on to say that they also used it for bribes and political influence.

The final reply from the second character is that they gave some of it to Nina. In most books, after hearing these replies from Jesper, Inej states that Matthias should tell them how awful they are. This is usually followed by another quote from Matthias where he explains how great they are.
